Tengo is a hitman who was tasked to kill Lynne and the second individual who's shown doing this task. He specializes in shooting his victims from a distance and uses a sniper rifle. His nickname is "One Step Ahead Tengo", because he always is one step ahead of everyone. He sees Nearsighted Jeego as his rival.
Tengo's glasses may be used to correct his own nearsightedness, placing him "one step ahead" of Jeego by being able to see correctly.
Appearance[]
Tengo has blue skin, a pointed nose and black hair. He is shown wearing a black suit, a long sleeved gray shirt underneath with a red tie. He is also seen with black gloves and a fedora.
Personality[]
He seems to like donuts and can eat them with great skill by throwing them into his mouth with the business end of his rifle. He also talks a lot to himself, sprouting advice on how to become a great hitman. He even wants to become head of Sith's hitman division.
Plot[]
Tengo is first seen in the second chapter of the game, where he goes to Lynne's apartment to kill her. After arriving, he first shoots Missile, then ties and gags Kamila. Sissel then saves Missile from his death by hiding both him and Kamila under the couch, so Tengo doesn't notice their presence.
After another phone call from Sith, Tengo heads to the Junkyard in order to kill Lynne there. Initially, he succeeds by shooting her from the top of the police van outside. When Sissel turns back time to save Lynne, he flattens Tengo by dropping a heavy crate on him, stopping him from commiting the crime and he isn't seen again after being squashed. Like with Jeego, his fellow affiliates don't allude, comment, or imply that he died.
The first timeline[]
Instead of killing only Missile, Tengo killed both Missile and Kamila in Ray's timeline. This is probably due to Yomiel being with him at Lynne's apartment and Yomiel likely wanted them to perish because of his vengeance as well.
Trivia[]
- Tengo’s name is likely derived from the Japanese word 天国 (tengoku) which means “heaven”. This matches his rival, Jeego’s, name, which is derived from 地獄 (jigoku), the Japanese word for “hell”.
- His name might have also come from a Catalan nickname that means "faint" or "thin", referring to the emotion since he would be believed to be threatening because of his occupation and even his skin color visually resembles a person who is turning blue from being strangled/choking to death. The meaning of the nickname refers to his body build as well.
